Hi everyone! Today we're going to learn how to write a letter asking for advice and giving advice. I'm going to show you an example for you to see. It was taken from one of my English books for advanced / nerd learners. Enjoy!
Letter asking for advice
Dear Rachel,
Hi, sis! I miss you a lot! Here I am, in Boston, enjoying the school for retarded teenagers that our parents sent me to.
I'm writing to you because I'm in trouble again. I fell in love with one of my classmates. His name is Dick, he's handsome, funny, sensitive, and just as retarded as I am! We've been dating for almost a week, and we both feel we know all our freak habits and nasty secrets. But the problem is we want to get married in a few days. We need to be together. I want to marry him NOW, although it's pretty obvious my parents wouldn't allow me to get married 'cause I'm 15. But I'll be 16 soon! And you're my lovely big sister, I need you to help me! What should I do? Should I obey my heart? Or should I fall into the depths of loneliness?

Sorry for not writing you sooner, but I was busy taking care of my new hamster, Bobby. If you only knew how cute he is! And I bet he's much bigger than your new boyfriend's little thing down there, ha-ha! Just kidding.
I want you to know that we're still here in L.A, and mom, dad and I miss you a lot too. Well, mom doesn't say much. Dad's not desperate either. But I do really miss you, Mimi. I swear to Bobby.
I know you're going through a difficult situation. I've been told food is not good in that school. Anyway, I felt shocked when I read you wanted to get married. Mimi, you've known this guy for a week! You've no idea what he wants from you! And on top of that, his name is Dick, for God's sake! If you ask for my advice, I strongly believe you should wait a little bit and get to know him better. Don't worry, I won't tell our mother. But I'd like you to tell me why you want to make such a big decision right now. You're so young...! ...Oh gosh, you're not pregnant, are you? If you are, I'll tell mom! Since you're 15, I promised her I'd take care of you till you're 18. Anyway, don't get married. Marriage sucks. Believe me, I've been there. Just enjoy being young and retarded and have safe sex whenever you want to. Deal? That's my girl! ..Oh, I have to stop writing, I think Bobby's calling me. He needs a bath. I love you sis, and remember everything I told ya.
